The Bayelsa State Command of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria has donated some Covid -19 relief items to the state government.
Making the presentation in Yenagoa, the Commander, Mr. Jonathan Tolumobofa, said the donation was part of their resolve to strengthen the state government’s response in battling the Covid-19 scourge.
Represented by the Deputy Commander of the State Command, Mr. Gift Okoloko, the Vigilante boss also appreciated the efforts of the government in combating the virus.
He assured that they will continue to play their part to ensure that the fight against Covid-19 is won in the state and the country.
While receiving the items, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the State Covid-19 Task Force, Dr. Inodu Apoku, expressed gratitude to the group for their thoughtfulness to support the government in the war against Covid-19.
He said the state government has been strengthening the capacity of the health sector to inhibit the spread of the virus, stating that the donated items will be put into the most efficient use.
“We are very grateful for your contribution and I assure you that when the names of those who contributed to the government’s fight against Covid-19, is mentioned, your name would be boldly written.
“We are unrelenting in our determination to contain the spread of this virus and I assure you that these items will be put to the best use, ” Dr. Apoku stated.
The items donated were tap buckets and face masks.
